Bio
Rooted in the heavy pocket grooves of funky soul and jazz artists of past and present, the Boogie Hustlers have made their live performances well known in and around Pittsburgh PA. The band has just released their debut album entitled "122 Ellsworth". The work of the past 14 months has come together in an incredible release for an independant artist, 12 original tracks whose soulful flavor enhances the positive and honest vocals by two frontmen.
Drummer/producer Poogie Bell has dedicated himself to the Boogie Hustlers album by fully producing each track of the "122 Ellsworth" LP. The Boogie Hustlers, a product of Pittsburgh only since 2003, have been awarded reputable shows for their diverse and funky brand of music carried out and highlighted by energetic performances.
Performances with Soulive, Govt Mule, The Pharcyde, Brazilian Girls, Vince Welnick, Jerry Garcia Band, Lotus, Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Tea Leaf Green, DJ Williams Projekt, Poogie Bell, Oteil Burbridge, the legendary guitarist Melvin Sparks, and others have attracted a large fanbase for the Hustlers. They've also been featured at such prestigious festivals as Three River Arts Fest, and The All Good Music Festival. The group is a collaboration between 8 Pittsburgh musicians, including 2 vocalists, 2 guitarists, bassist, drummer, keyboard/electric piano, and topped with horns that include trumpet and tenor sax.
